The private onsen in our cozy, well-designed room was so soothing, and the view straight out over the peaceful lake made the stay feel special. Dinner and breakfast were included, and we chose the mid-tier kaiseki. There was a generous spread of beautifully presented dishes, with local beef as the standout: tender, full of flavor, and cooked just right. It had plenty of that satisfying beef taste without the heavy fattiness you can get with very marbled Japanese wagyu. The inn feels modern and stylish without being pretentious. Drinks and snacks were complimentary at the lobby bar until 9:45 pm, a nice extra. The meals alone made the price feel worthwhile, and we left relaxed and very well-fed. I’d happily recommend it for a special occasion or memorable getaway.

I went because my companion recommended it, and arrived without expecting much. Once there, I found the inn had a lot of the simple things that make a stay good. Dinner's cold yellowtail shabu-shabu and the other dishes were delicious. Breakfast came with hamburger steaks that were surprisingly light, and the all-inclusive plan covered unlimited alcohol too, which was hard to resist as drinkers. The private bath has free-flowing water, and at night you can soak under a beautiful starry sky if the weather cooperates. The garden lights were a little distracting, but I still relaxed enough to bathe several times. Service had a comfortable, hands-off feel, which suited me since I like to stay in without being disturbed. I'd especially suggest it to couples, including married couples with busy everyday lives, looking for a proper chance to unwind.

I've stayed here for birthdays and other important occasions many times, and it never disappoints. The lobby stays peaceful because they limit the number of guests. I love settling into a comfy chair with a beer and looking out at the scenery. Drinks from draft beer to sake, whiskey, and wine are unlimited from check-in, with both savory and sweet snacks around too. Dinner is delicious, with care put into everything from the appetizers and sashimi to the meat and dessert, and drinks are included with that as well. Breakfast is another treat: fresh homemade bread, soup, salads, and dishes that always make me happy. The room is spacious enough that I've often thought I'd like to live here and lounge around all day. I've lost count of how often I've used the private open-air bath in the room. I'd love to come back.

We chose the slightly lighter meal plan and were glad we did. There was plenty to enjoy without the usual ryokan problem of feeling overwhelmed by too much food. The sashimi was exceptionally fresh, the beef on the stone plate was tender and cooked perfectly, and the lovely dishes and presentation made the meal a treat for the eyes too. In the room, tatami and a kotatsu made a great winter pairing. It was spotlessly clean, and the big windows looked out over a beautiful snowy scene. The room's open-air bath has water straight from the source. Its chic black oval tub can fit two, and soaking while steam rises over the wide natural view felt wonderful. The hospitality was excellent, including sending public transport timetables in advance. There's no shuttle, but the city bus from Fukuoka Station (Toyama Prefecture) lined up well with check-in and checkout, so getting there wasn't a problem.

The staff are attentive, and the place stays quiet since small children aren't allowed. It's a good fit for couples or anyone wanting to relax. Meals and drinks are included in the all-inclusive plan.
