Auberge Saison de Haruna

The view was lovely, and the service was top notch. At that price, though, I expected the food to be better.

The restaurant has a panoramic view of Lake Haruna, which made breakfast especially refreshing. The food was absolutely delicious, with each bite bringing a surprise and delight, and the portions were generous enough for a young man. I stayed in mid-September. There was no air conditioning in the room, and it was unbearably hot just after check-in. Once the sun went down, though, the cool climate of Lake Haruna came through and I was comfortable. The waiter seemed to be a foreigner and was a little unfriendly, but provided the necessary service, so I wasn’t personally dissatisfied. There were ashtrays in the hallway, which felt unusual these days and let guests smoke. It had been a long time since I’d sat somewhere quiet, slowly smoking and listening to the tobacco crackle. It felt like a luxurious moment. I’d like to visit this hotel again.
