We enjoyed sitting down for tea and a chat with the kind owner, who speaks English really well and knows a lot about Takayama and Japan. The house is clean and nice, in a quiet spot close to historical places. Thanks for having us!

The host was warm and very kind, and knew the area well. He was happy to chat and offer ideas for dinner and onward travel. The place was very clean, which helped make up for the tiny rooms. We were a family of four and felt cramped, so it seems better suited to backpackers or students. A very traditional stay. Thanks, Fuji House!

Takashi went out of his way to make sure we had a good stay, even leaving a note with ideas for the next part of our trip. The clean, comfortable rooms are just steps from some of Takayama's loveliest temples and shrines. I stayed at Fuji House on a recent trip to Japan and can't recommend the experience enough. I'd stay again if I return to the Hida region.

The location was perfect, and sleeping on the futons was comfortable enough. It's a cool traditional house with a very hospitable host, Takashi, who has loads of great recommendations. :)
