The kitchenette was especially useful, since we could easily make our own halal food. There’s also a laundry area and a relaxing onsen on Level 1. Toilets and showers are shared, but everything was very clean and well-maintained. We checked in around 6:00 PM and immediately liked the cozy, traditional Japanese-style atmosphere. Our Level 2 room had a beautiful view, and the soft, warm blankets made for a great night’s sleep. A great choice for a traditional stay!

The room was spacious and had a seating area facing a beautiful country house. At the end of January, the snow-covered scenery made it feel like a winter wonderland. There’s plenty of parking, so it suits travelers with a car. The receptionist was very friendly, and Hida No Sato is close enough to walk to. It stays open until 8.00pm.

For the price, I expected some basic things that were missing. There was hardly anywhere to put things in the shower room, and nowhere to hang towels. The hand towels were tiny, and the hair dryer was abysmal. There wasn’t a small table or light beside the bed either. The stay was okay overall.

We reached the station in about 25 minutes on foot with our backpacks, so the distance from the center was manageable. The room was spacious, clean, and cozy, with its own toilet and washbasin, which was handy even though the shared facilities were comfortable too. The green yukata were beautiful, and there’s a coin laundry. We loved the food, especially the breakfast, and often had the comfortable outdoor onsen to ourselves. It felt like a proper mountain getaway. I’d happily stay longer next time. Five stars, and I recommend it.
