There are private onsens and an Izakaya onsite, which were big pluses. The place is a little way outside the city, with two bus stop lines within at most a 300 m walk that go to Takayama Station. So it’s not ideal if you want to walk into the city center. The staff were patient and very helpful with us. For requests beyond basic check-in and check-out, be ready to use a translator.

It’s a little far from the center, but it was a good stay for the price during the festival. You have to make your own ogni bed, which felt odd, though it’s part of getting into Japanese culture. I liked being able to reserve a private onsen at the hotel.

I really liked the hot bath, and the hotel is well located if you’re driving. The attached restaurant is worth trying, but remember to book ahead. Excellent hotel.

The clean, quiet private furo was free, and the hotel itself was beautiful. What really stayed with us was the staff’s generosity. We couldn’t find a taxi, so the kind woman at the front desk offered to drive us in her own car. We were shocked and touched, and when we tried to pay her, she wouldn’t accept anything. Such a kind, lovely person, and a beautiful place. Thank you!

This Japanese-style guesthouse had a spacious room and its own toilet. Showers and private onsen could be reserved, and the amenities were good. There was free water and bread, plus free parking. It’s also close to attractions. I loved staying here.
