Wanosato

The nature and buildings are gorgeous. We had a stellar stay, the Onsen was so relaxing, and both dinner and breakfast were immaculate.

That view of the Miyagawa River from our room was wonderful. My wife and I spent one night here, and we both wished we could have stayed longer. The staff were friendly, and the setting and stay were excellent. We were greeted with tea and a small meal, and they offered us kimonos. Later, after a long soak in the hotel's own onsen, we had a multi-course dinner. This place is a must for anyone looking for peace and quiet. I could write a whole essay about how much we enjoyed it, but I'll leave it there. It was a definite highlight of my trip and worth visiting. Easily 5/5 stars.

The staff were lovely, and the private onsens were really nice. We liked the food's quality, though shabu-shabu and sukiyaki weren't our preferred kind of Japanese food. In spring, though, we found lots of insects in our room, which was the one issue. The remote, lovely setting made it feel like Japan in the past. They’ve kept the ryokan’s character, with a communal fire near the entrance and simple, refurbished interiors. I’d definitely recommend it.

We’re still talking about our stay last summer. The place is beautiful and peaceful, and the meal was amazing, try everything! The staff were incredibly kind and attentive. We especially enjoyed chatting with Mr. Norio Nakashima. He was entertaining and kind, even though we each understood only about 20 words of the other’s language.
