Hida Takayama Onsen Takayama Green Hotel (KEIO GROUP HOTELS)

I can't recommend Green Hotel. When we arrived today, I was surprised by how isolated it seemed, in an enormous sprawling building with our room a long way from reception. The area around it is ugly, with no restaurants nearby. I asked about dining at the hotel and was told every restaurant was serving a buffet at a set price that night. They suggested trying somewhere near the railway station, a 20-minute walk away. Restaurants by a station aren't usually high end. I expected a quality hotel to be centrally located, with amenities tourists would appreciate.

I stayed at your hotel on January 15 and bought strawberries from the souvenir shop. They honestly were the best I've ever had! I forgot to photograph the outer packaging while eating them. Could you tell me the variety or name of the strawberries you were selling that season? I'd really love to know. Thank you so much! 🍓✨💚🧤

The onsen is a big attraction, spacious, with an outdoor area, and among the most comfortable and best I've visited. I was really impressed. I had a roomy, practical tatami room, and the amenities were provided and refreshed each day. The front desk staff took their time explaining the facilities and gave quick, useful advice about the area and the best times to visit places. There's a shuttle to takayama bus station and a huge souvenir shop with fair prices and a discount for hotel guests. A really great place, highly recommended.

Sleeping on a futon was a special experience, and the onsen was fantastic. Our huge room had a wonderful view, and the breakfast felt more upscale than at other hotels we tried. The location was great too, with Takayama just a few minutes away. One of the coolest hotels we stayed in during our Japan trip.
