Such a great experience.

The service was spot on without hovering, and I really appreciated how cared for I felt. Since there weren't many bookings that day, they upgraded me to the Kiri Room (Kiri no Ma). It was on the first floor, with a full-length garden-view window and even an open-air bath. This was a birthday gift, so the upgrade felt like another present from the inn. ☆ I picked the blue crab course and hadn't expected much from the other dishes, lol, but they absolutely didn't cut corners. Everything was wonderful. If I had one small wish, it would be to see more of the garden at night. I was drunk and missed the night view, and I'm not even sure whether it was lit up, lol. There's a 7-Eleven right next door, handy if you forget anything. lol

My friend and I booked after seeing the place online, and the real thing was even lovelier than we'd expected. Our room was spacious and nicely decorated, with the old building's character preserved in the renovation. Even little things like the aromatherapy oils were a nice touch. The hot spring bath was a highlight. The water looked clear and ordinary at first, but at 38.5 degrees Celsius it warmed us right through. We both called it magical. A quick soak before dinner left me feeling warm inside, and another before bed was plenty. I slept soundly that night. The staff seemed to check the temperature regularly, and it felt just right. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, with good ingredients and careful preparation and presentation. My friend couldn't stop talking about the lotus root dumplings in the soup and wanted more. The dessert surprised me too, it was delicious and unlike what I expected. The meal moved smoothly from the appetizers through the 11 other dishes. I was full but somehow kept eating, because everything was tasty. With the Ajisai beef hot pot included, the price felt like a bargain. They also gave nice suggestions for drinks to pair with the dishes, and the drinks were very good. At checkout, I had a lovely chat with the proprietress and was touched by her personality. Even though they were busy, the whole staff were cheerful and kind. My friend was so happy, and it really was a wonderful trip. I'll definitely come back when I'm in Kumamoto.

We came as a family of 10, including my mother, who uses a wheelchair. There was a step at the entrance, but a male staff member lifted her in her chair and helped us in, so it wasn't a problem. We booked three rooms, had dinner together in a separate room, and ate breakfast in the dining area in our room. We also ordered abalone and snow crab, and both were delicious! The rooms were clean, the food was good, and everyone on staff was very kind. Someone else staying there that night was lovely and kind as well, which made the trip even more memorable. We have great memories and will visit again.
