The staff were lovely, and breakfast was delicious. The hotel was clean, with great local restaurants and coffee shops nearby. It has a traditional, old Japan feel in Tanabe, especially when it’s raining and lit up at night. It’s about a five-minute walk from the station. Turn right when you come out and look for the steps and bridge over the tracks. You may be able to check in a little early if they’ve finished preparing your room. Loved it.

Breakfast starts at 6:30, and guests seem to be up early. There isn’t a huge selection, but everything I tried was delicious and enough to keep me going for a day of exploring. The room was small and cozy, with clean linen and the toiletries I needed. The hotel feels fresh and new. It’s around a 7-8 minute walk from the station, with restaurants close by. You can pick up things like toothbrushes and cotton buds at reception. There’s some train station noise, though I got used to it quickly. Earplugs are available there too.

We had free parking, and our room was clean and spacious by Japanese standards. It was a cozy place for our honeymoon trip around Wakayama, and my wife and I were touched by a sweet gesture during our stay.

The room felt spacious by Japanese standards, and despite being next to the railway, it was quiet enough for a good night’s sleep. There’s a simple breakfast, which was a nice extra. The hotel is about a five-minute walk from the train station and restaurant area, and it’s a handy place to stay when transferring to the Kumano Kodo. I also noticed quite a few Japanese business travelers. It felt new and good value.

I stayed here for the pilgrimage hike and everything worked well for me. The place had just opened last August, so it felt new and had no unpleasant smell. It’s near Ki Tanabe station and the main area with lots of food.
