The staff were so welcoming and lovely, and made the stay feel special. The room was large, clean, and comfortable, with plenty of space to unwind and a stunning sea view. The hilltop setting was peaceful and quiet. Breakfast was a highlight, with very good food and lots of choices. The indoor and outdoor onsen were clean and nice for relaxing, though their design felt fairly average. A great option in Toba if you want comfort and a beautiful view.

The upper-floor onsen has an amazing view, and the staff are friendly. Rooms with a shower and bathtub out on the balcony are especially nice. The hotel overlooks the ocean, and a free shuttle runs between it and the train station. You can walk to some restaurants nearby.

We spent three nights at Senpokaku Toba Senpokaku, and the staff treated us so well and fed us wonderfully. I’ve stayed at many Ryokans, and this is one of my favorites. The service was excellent and made us feel very welcome. Each evening they served beautifully prepared dishes featuring Mie ingredients in different ways. There are English-speaking staff, so you’ll be looked after.

The breakfast buffet was quite good, and the morning coffee was surprisingly delicious. I stayed in the most basic room, which still had space for up to five people. It was roomy and the price was very reasonable, especially for an older property that could use some remodeling. The large hotel has a ryokan feel and sits on a hill overlooking Toba city. There’s a scheduled shuttle to and from Toba station, and the indoor bath has a beautiful view.

I found the futon really hard and uncomfortable, which was a shame. The outdoor bath was a pleasure, and breakfast was very good. The place was relaxing and nice, and I’d stay again, but the conflicting restaurant opening hours need to be corrected.
