I went in winter and stayed two nights. We were the only guests, which I think is why I enjoyed it so much hahaha. The woman who welcomed us was super friendly and kind, and even suggested a few different onsen we could visit. The room was warm and cozy. 💖

The location was perfect for exploring town, and the onsen wasn't far away. The room was inexpensive, traditional in style, and very comfortable. The hostess was really kind too.

It's a nice building in a good location, and the staff were friendly. It seemed like it had once been a lively, busy place, but we won't return. They tried to charge us more than we would have paid through a booking platform. We also spent a night on the third floor, which I assume was meant for staff. The mattress was old and the room wasn't especially clean. Maybe we were just unlucky. Also, there isn't a restaurant.

The room was clean and well maintained, and whenever I asked for something, it was brought without hesitation. The staff were outstanding. We've never had a better interaction with a hotel. We had drinks in the evening, and the experienced, well-trained staff recommended lots of things to do in Tochigi and other parts of Japan. Everyone we met spoke English fairly well, and when they didn't know a word, we could sound it out together. It was easy to find, and I'll definitely come back. Thanks Meg-San and Edd-San for a wonderful stay! The Bat will return!

I had such a comfortable stay, and the staff were really kind and attentive. I had a great time and totally recommend it. 07/04/2019, I came back for a second visit and everything was perfect again. The service was excellent, everything clean and comfortable, and the food and drinks were amazing. The location is beautiful and easy to find. I fully recommend it 💜
