The sea is right outside, and most of the day I could just unwind to the sound of the waves. There’s fishing on the nearby beach, so bring a rod if you have one. If you get lucky, there may even be a chance to head out by boat and catch a GT (Giant Trevally). VAMOS VILLA made for a lovely stay on Tokunoshima. The rooms have a warm, natural feel with modern touches, and the details are thoughtfully done. BBQ gear, including a grill and tongs, is available to rent, and Tokuya supermarket is a short drive away for local ingredients. Eating fresh food outside while the sun set over the ocean was a highlight. I’d recommend it if you’re after some quiet time in nature or enjoy fishing and being outdoors. I’d happily come back.

The starry sky was the highlight for me. The villa is away from town and faces the sea, so the sky was completely full of stars. I went at the end of June and could clearly see the Milky Way, almost as if it were pouring down. Even so, town is only about a 30-minute drive away, so the distance wasn’t a hassle. The place itself was five stars for its layout, interior, and facilities, and it looked just like the photos on the booking site. The staff were also incredibly welcoming. There’s a BBQ grill, and Fresh Mart Tokuya is about 10 minutes away by car for tasty Satsuma beef. They even deliver. Boats for diving and fishing leave from the port right out front, which makes it a great spot for activities. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

The owner and staff were so kind and warm, and I really appreciated that. I hadn’t planned to stay here, but the typhoon changed my plans. The room was super stylish and clean, and the mattress was just right, not too soft or too firm. Thanks so much! 😊

It felt like being on a movie set, and the atmosphere was lovely at every hour, from morning through the night. The staff were flexible and helpful too. I’d suggest picking up some food before heading over.

The handy things made this multi-night stay easy: there was a washer dryer, wine cooler, rice cooker, kettle, and fresh coffee. It was a stylish place that reminded me of Terrace House. 😌 My first trip to Tokunoshima turned into a great memory, and I’d definitely stay here again!! 😊
