Hyper Inn Mayup Tokushima

It’s a decent budget option. The rooms and breakfast were the basic standard you find at hotels in Japan, and the staff were kind and polite. Awa-odori kaikan isn’t very far away. The reception desk isn’t open 24 hours, which is a little inconvenient.

Having a massage chair in the room was a nice touch, but the ticking wall clock made it hard to relax at bedtime. The room itself wasn’t anything special, and I came away somewhat dissatisfied. This was my first stay, just one night without breakfast; it struck me as an average place, and I don’t particularly want to return.

The hotel is an easy walk from both the station and the entertainment district, and the breakfast buffet was great. I stayed one night at the end of the year with breakfast included, and the price was very reasonable. The staff were consistently friendly and polite. I’ll stay here again when I’m sightseeing in Tokushima city.

I slept through the night, but sounds from the hallway and other rooms woke me earlier in the day and again in the early morning. The room is old, though the staff were polite and helpful and the location makes lots of places walkable. Breakfast is reasonably priced, which is a plus.
