We were very happy with our six days here for work and pleasure. It’s about a 15-minute walk from downtown, in a modest residential part of Tokushima, with a convenience store, supermarket, bakery, and several local restaurants close by. The traditional Japanese home has two levels, a Japanese-style bedroom and a European-style one, plus a full kitchen, bathroom, dining room, sitting area, and small garden. It was comfortable, and our hostess was charming, welcoming, and super helpful. We could use electric bikes for free. Taxi drivers sometimes have trouble finding the house even with the address, so have directions in Japanese ready for them. It’s not really a problem, just useful to know.

Vacation House Yue was one of the highlights of our trip, and we had a wonderful four-night stay. The house had everything we needed and was tastefully decorated throughout. Yoriko really made the difference. She went to great lengths before and during our visit to help us plan and make the most of our time in Tokushima. There’s nothing comparable in the prefecture, and it’s well worth choosing as a base for visiting the region.

Yoriko was such an amazing host. She picked us up and dropped us off, and on our first night she showed us how to make teppenyaki. The beautiful building has cosy rooms with plenty of space, a peaceful little garden, and a well-stocked kitchen. I loved the breadmaker and balcony, and how quiet everything was. It was a really peaceful break from the chaos of Tokyo.
