Toyoko Inn Tokushima Ekimae

The front desk was very courteous and helped me store my luggage, and there’s a convenience store right next door along with a few restaurants and cafes. The hotel is also a stone’s throw from the Tokushima castle ruins. It was my first night in Japan, and the room was spacious and clean, with a desk big enough for my laptop. Breakfast was quite nice, with more choices than at Toyoko in larger cities such as Tokyo and Osaka. If you have luggage, stick to the flat ground on the way to the hotel. There’s no need to take the pedestrian bridge.

For a low price, it’s a convenient stay with breakfast included. The rooms are plain, with capsule-style bathrooms, and breakfast is Japanese. It’s a typical Toyoko-Inn chain hotel. The name suggests it’s right by the station, but in practice it takes a few minutes to walk there.

The room was really cramped. We had two twin beds, leaving almost nowhere to open our luggage. It’s a budget hotel, and the accommodation feels very basic. Being pretty close to the station is a plus, and there’s complimentary breakfast, though it’s quite limited, so don’t expect much.

The room was very small, and it didn’t make sense to me to put in two twin beds instead of one double. The beds and pillows were really uncomfortable. We also had to wait until almost exactly 4pm, the scheduled check-in time. It’s not especially close to the station or any convenience stores, either.
