I planned to stay two nights, then added one more. They clean every day and give you a fresh bag with two towels, a toothbrush, and pajamas. The location is close to Shinagawa station, which made it easy to get to the airport, take the bullet train around Japan, and use the Tokyo Metro. Cafes, restaurants, and combini are right next door. My large and medium suitcases and rucksack all fit in the locker. The staff were helpful, especially one receptionist whose name was I MAN, sorry if I've spelled it wrong. One thing to know: there's a small camera in the capsule to monitor your sleep pattern, which might not be okay with everyone.
The location right next to Shinagawa Station is convenient, and I liked the floor plan. It guides you from the entrance through the washrooms to the sleeping area, making the move from outdoor to clean areas feel more intuitive than in many hostels I've tried. Slippers, pajamas, and other items are replenished daily. Keep the midday cleaning schedule in mind: everyone has to leave around noon. Book here only if you know you'll be elsewhere during the day. The capsules are nice, but other guests snoring can make nights noisy. The pods block some sound, not all of it, and earplugs are provided. The free lockers fit one carry-on bag and a backpack. Checked luggage can only be stored for one night. For longer stays, you'll need to use storage at the JR station or find a place on Bounce.
It was quiet for the three nights I stayed, apart from a few snores that didn't bother me even without earplugs. The capsules were comfortably large, though the mattress was quite firm. My main annoyance was that the curtain didn't sit flush against the wall, letting in a lot of light while the lights stay on 24/7. It's a small place, but very clean and in a great location. Showers are private and have small changing areas. For a multi-night stay, you can leave luggage in the locker, but you can't get to your things from 11am to 3pm unless you have a good enough reason. I had thought I'd have to take everything with me during cleaning, so I was glad that wasn't necessary. I'd recommend it and come back if I'm in Tokyo again.
I stayed here on my last Tokyo night before flying out of Haneda. It's close to Shinagawa Station, with easy access to the Shinkansen and Haneda airport. My suitcase and backpack fit well in the decent-sized lockers. The toilets and showers were clean, and the capsule had enough room for me to sit up comfortably. They provide earplugs, so the night wasn't too noisy. I didn't interact much with staff, but they were helpful when I needed them.
For solo male travelers who like tech, 9 Hours Shinagawa Station has plenty to catch your eye. The Sleep Lab uses infrared cameras and sensors to track heart rate and breathing, then emails you a detailed report. Pods also have sensors for the signature Sleep Analysis service, and each comes with a specialty "croissant" pillow and high-end UCHINO towels. The "Warm Pillar" shower sends hot water down in a gentle, steady column. There's a sleek workspace with semi-private desks and high-speed Wi-Fi. This is an exclusively men-only capsule hotel that opened in August 2024. For around $38, the stay includes a breakfast voucher for Doutor Coffee. The minimalist "9h" idea breaks the stay into 1 hour to wash, 7 to sleep, and 1 to get ready. Pods are 105cm wide, with smooth, edge-free surfaces, so they don't feel claustrophobic. There are no TVs. The location is directly connected to the Konan Exit of Shinagawa Station by a pedestrian deck, inside the "Area Shinagawa" building. Lively izakayas and ramen places are nearby, including "Ikkakuya" for a late-night Yokohama-style bowl. Search for SUKIYAKI TRAVEL JAPAN on YouTube to see the sleep report and futuristic pods in 4K!
