Tosei Hotel Cocone Asakusa

Tosei Hotel Cocone Asakusa was a favorite of ours. The rooms were small but comfortable, and there’s a machine in the lobby for complimentary coffee drinks. It’s about a 15-minute walk from the train station, along a road with plenty of good places to eat and shop. The team really made the stay. They were wonderfully kind and helpful, sorted out several reservations for us, played games with our toddler, and seemed able to communicate in any language. We’d definitely come back.

There’s no breakfast, and the room is small for two people. With two big suitcases it gets pretty messy, and there’s no wardrobe, just a tiny bit of wall space to hang clothes. There isn’t room to move around freely. The one nice extra is unlimited free drinks from the coffee vending machine at reception. The hotel staff were friendly and spoke English.

The room worked really well for us: two bunk beds, enough space, and the toilet and bathroom were separate. We also got fresh towels every day, and the staff were lovely and helpful. From this Asakusa base, it was about five minutes to the temple and shopping streets and around ten minutes to the station. A good place to stay while exploring Tokyo.

We spent five days here, and it was a handy starting point for everything we wanted to see. The hotel sits on a quiet street, just a couple of blocks from transport, restaurants, and places to grab something quickly. It was clean, the staff were polite, and it had what we needed. The room was cramped, as we expected from the warning that spaces in Japan can be small, but we still felt the squeeze.
