APA Hotel Asakusa Tawaramachi Ekimae

The bathroom smelled unpleasant, like dried urine or an airplane lavatory. I also noticed the dust other guests have mentioned, which was disappointing. Housekeeping was poor too: when we arrived, the bedding didn’t seem fresh. On the second day, after we’d been too exhausted from traveling to ask for cleaning or a room change, I requested that the room be cleaned. The bedding still hadn’t been changed and was left badly arranged after service, as shown in the photos. For a three-star hotel, I expected better. I work in hotels myself, and our own three-star property has much higher housekeeping standards. If cleanliness matters to your comfort, I wouldn’t recommend staying here. Breakfast at the Komeda restaurant was disappointing as well, with few choices and only average quality.

There’s a free onsen for hotel guests, and the laundromat is on the 14th floor. My room was clean but very small, as is standard for APA. I could open two medium suitcases at once, but there’s no space under the bed, so managing more than two bags would be difficult. The hotel is right across from the metro station, and staff helped me use the check-in machine easily.

It was 3 degrees outside but 30 degrees in my room, and the air conditioning was like a sauna. I couldn’t adjust it at all. This is ridiculous, especially when they talk about saving resources while cranking the heat up so high. It felt like torture. Never stay at this hotel again.

The room is compact, but it’s well laid out and has everything needed for a comfortable stay. The facilities were complete, clean, and arranged thoughtfully, making good use of the limited space. It is quite small, as expected at this price in Tokyo, especially given the convenient central location, so I found it reasonable. The hotel is right beside Tawaramachi Station, which makes getting around Tokyo easy. Cleanliness and organization felt consistent with APA standards, and the staff were polite and professional, making everything smooth and stress-free. I had a pleasant stay and would consider returning, especially for a short trip or solo travel. It’s good value if location, cleanliness, and efficiency are what you’re after.
