Bay Hotel Tokyo Hamamatsucho

The rooms are tiny, but manageable, and the view from mine was great: right across from tokyo tower at the window. The lobby is good, and the staff are attentive. The neighborhood is quiet, with easy access to Uber or taxis. You can leave your luggage, but check-in is strictly at 4pm, which is a downside. The train access is excellent, with both Toei and JR lines nearby. During rush hour it's not crowded, since the salary man get out of hamammatsucho. Haneda is nearby too, one stop on the monorail from haneda. I'd stay here again.

The location is excellent, and cleanliness and amenities are good. They also kept our luggage for us, which was great. My main issue was the timing: check-in isn't until 4pm, but check-out is at 10am. The usual Japan times are 3pm and 11am, so 4pm feels ridiculous, like half the day has already gone by. The room was also far too small for a couple.

We had a comfortable stay in a great spot for transport, about 5 minutes from JR and subway. There weren't many restaurants we could see around, but a couple of convenience stores were nearby. The room was easily the biggest we've stayed in in Tokyo. Four of us fit comfortably, with room to open all our luggage, and it had double sinks, a shower area, and a bathtub. The one issue in the room was a vibrating noise from the aircon. It's a boutique hotel with self check-in as an option, though onsite staff checked us in. It felt more like a service apartment, with self-serve facilities including coin-op laundry and a shared kitchenette.

Awful. I wouldn't recommend this place unless location is all you care about. It was by far my worst hotel experience during my stay in Japan. Don't waste your time or money here. The photos were taken so close up that the property looked completely different in person. The place felt extremely unrefined. Amenities were blocked off for staff only, and the vending machine took money without dispensing anything. The laundry setup wasn't a room at all, just one machine behind a pillar in an already tiny lobby packed with other people's stored luggage. The check-in machines didn't work, and our check-in took 40 minutes or more. At four other hotels, it took no longer than 5 minutes. We booked another hotel and decided to leave. The staff were extremely rude and argued with us about our "preferences" for another hotel instead of owning up to the obvious problems here.
