Please don't book this place, even for $50. I reserved it for my family, then spent half an hour knocking on the building in front because the pictures gave no idea what the place looked like. Once inside, I found out there was no elevator and we had to haul our luggage up four flights of stairs. By then I'd had enough. The room isn't nice enough to make all that trouble worthwhile.

We stayed four nights, and the neighborhood was a big plus. There are food shops, convenience stores, and a pharmacy nearby, plus Nishi-Oi station is only a 2-3 minute walk away, with escalators and a lift. The area has a great feel, and there's a direct train to Narita. I'd stay here again for the neighborhood and station access. The apartment has plenty of room for five, with beds, a kitchenette, living space, and a TV area. The toilet and bathing areas are a good size, and it was comfortable to live in. There's a washing machine, but clothes need the bathroom heater to dry. There isn't a lift in the building, which is a problem if you're on the third floor. We were on the second floor and could hear footsteps and furniture being dragged upstairs. The soundproofing isn't great, so it's not ideal if you're sensitive to noise.

We chose this cute-looking Airbnb in Tokyo based on the pictures. It took some effort to find at night because the entrance is in a back lane rather than on the main road. Email replies were quick, and the apartment is close to Family Mart, 7-11, Maruetsu Petit, and McDonald's. Nishi-Oi station is walkable, and it's one stop from Shinagawa on the Yamanote line. They provide basics like toothbrushes and a hair dryer, and the 2D wall painting makes the place look nicely decorated. It felt cramped for three people, especially once the lower bunk was pulled out and there was no room to walk. Noise carried between units through the partitions, which aren't concrete. Our first-floor unit had a narrow staircase, so moving large suitcases took care. The shower stayed lukewarm even at its highest setting, which wasn't warm enough for winter. There's no clothes dryer, so laundry has to air-dry. To hang it up, we had to move the heavy bunk bed away from the wall, and after moving it there wasn't enough room to pull out the lower bunk. Early check-in and late check-out cost extra, and there are lots of house rules. We also had some noise issues during the stay.

We only stayed one night and slept okay, but I wouldn't suggest this place if you want to sleep until 9:00 or need a dark room. The bed squeaked, and streetlights right by the windows came through because there were no blackout curtains. We tried to block the light, but it woke us too early, along with the street noise.

The owners were so nice, and the unit was very clean. It's super close to the train station, which makes the location really convenient. A very good place for family or friends, and well worth recommending.
