The easy check-in, soundproof windows, friendly people, affordable laundry, and free dryer were all pluses. The owner communicated well and was helpful when I arrived late for my private room. The room and bed were cozy, and I liked the Japanese style. The place is small and narrow, but I got around fine. My room had bug screens, and I liked how well the windows blocked noise. The toilet and laundry room were nice, and the shower on the second floor was good. There's a 7 Eleven next door open around the clock, a big grocery store a few minutes away on foot, and good public transport. You can also sit in the downstairs restaurant when it's closed, which was a nice way to meet other travelers. The main problem was the smell in my room. It was so musty I couldn't sleep, and after trying to find the source, I realized it was coming from the air conditioner and inside the wardrobe. The A/C was full of black mold. I kept waking up from the smell even with the windows open. I told the owner, and he had the unit professionally cleaned the very next day, which I appreciated. I think the rest of the room could use a deep clean too. The bathroom on the third floor also needs serious cleaning: moisture had left black mold and dark spots on the walls, making the tub area feel dirty and unpleasant for relaxing. One of the sinks doesn't work. There's also a big gap along the side of my room door, so someone outside can see into the room, which felt uncomfortable as a woman traveling alone. It's affordable and has a lot going for it for a few nights, but I probably wouldn't choose it for a longer stay.
