The bed was the worst part of our stay: there was blood on the mattress protector, hidden under a white bedsheet. Unbelievable, especially since we’ve visited Japan many times each year. The hotel offered us a Japanese dessert as an apology, but I still think people should know how poor the housekeeping was. This wasn’t a cheap hotel, yet the quality was the lowest we’ve come across. At check-in, they said that stays longer than four nights were entitled to just one room cleaning. Agoda hadn’t mentioned that when we booked. We also found the toilet exhaust fan cover on the floor. The front desk said they couldn’t fix it then because they were too short to reach it. Ridiculous.

The rooms and the hotel overall feel new, and the reception staff are friendly. Daily water and towels were provided, though there’s no room cleaning service. There’s also a small kitchen, washer, shower, bath and fridge in the room. The location is good, with a subway elevator entrance just around the corner from Ueno Station. That’s handy in the rain or if you’re managing a stroller. I’d recommend it for families with children, but bring a small or cabin-size stroller.

The facilities and service were top-notch, even though the room wasn’t very spacious. That’s understandable, since larger rooms in Tokyo cost more. The hotel is in a quiet spot, which is a nice extra, and within walking distance of Ueno Station and other attractions.

We stayed May 26-30, 2024, with our baby, and were glad the hotel provided a crib. We met other guests and noticed a lot of families, so it seems like a great place to stay with children. Getting here from Narita airport was convenient, too. The rooms were a good size and felt safe and cozy, even though the lobby was cramped and small. The place felt more like a serviced apartment, with a washing machine, kitchen, utensils, fridge and microwave. My wife and I enjoyed picking up Japanese convenience store food for breakfast the next day. We were in a quieter part of Ueno, no more than a three-minute walk from a metro entrance and five minutes from the main Metro station. It was easy to get around, even with a stroller.
