Hotel JAL City Tokyo Toyosu

We spent six days here as a couple and were really impressed. After arriving late from an international flight, check-in was easy. The room was exceptionally clean and tidy, quiet enough that we never heard the neighbors, and the beds were comfortable, though on the firm side, which suits us. The bathroom had a comfortable Japanese toilet, a large shower, and a deep bath. They refreshed the room daily with complimentary water and toiletries. The Lawson's convenience store downstairs was handy for anything we needed at short notice. Breakfast was a standard buffet, so you know what to expect if you’ve had one before. I’d add the breakfast package if it’s available, since there isn’t much nearby open in the morning. Shijō-mae station is about a two minute walk from the front door, and it gets you to central Tokyo in around 20 minutes. The nearby restaurant area is nice but aimed at tourists, so prices are higher than at typical restaurants, though it’s convenient. I’d recommend this as a clean, quiet, calm, no-frills stay for couples.

The hotel staff were consistently friendly and helpful, and breakfast was satisfactory. We had a one-night stay before flying home, and the compact room had two separate twin beds, an unusual setup for my husband and me. The in-room amenities were as expected. The bathroom was a separate wet room with a small but deep tub and an open shower next to it, so the tub got wet while showering. The wet room's glass door also served as the shower door. I especially liked the fabric and room spray, which worked well for freshening clothes we planned to wear again the next day. The accommodations were very well maintained, though somewhat small.

We had a nice four-night stay. The clean room had an amazing view of the bridge and sea. The tricky part was arriving by car: we spent about 10 minutes circling around looking for the hotel entrance and lobby, and only found the drop-off point after driving into the parking area to unload our luggage. The concierge validated our parking ticket, but it still cost 700yen for less than an hour. I’d give the hotel five stars if there were an easier lobby drop-off for taxis.

The staff were very friendly, and they let us leave our suitcases for half a day after checkout. We also had a delicious dinner in the hotel restaurant. There’s a small grocery store by the entrance. Everything in the hotel feels new and beautiful. We chose it for its proximity to the Fish Market and Team Lab, and our room was spacious, very clean, and had a lovely view.
