Hotel Keihan Asakusa

We were there for five nights in April 2026. The room temperature was adjustable, which suited us since we like it cool, and the beds were comfortable. Our room was tight, as Japanese hotel rooms often are, but two of us managed fine with three pieces of luggage and backpacks. The hotel was very clean, and staff were attentive and helpful. There are lots of good places nearby. The area felt very safe, though honestly we felt safe everywhere in Japan.

The metro station is about a 10-minute walk away, which felt like quite a trek while carrying heavy bags. Our economy twin was so cramped there was hardly room to walk or open a 22-inch suitcase, so we paid an extra 4,000 yen for a deluxe twin. That gave us space to move around and open our luggage, but the layout still felt odd. The toilet and bathroom were separate, and the huge sink counter seemed to take up space that would’ve been more useful as walking room.

Once we got the booking sorted, the stay itself was A+ all around. The place was great, with good space by Tokyo standards, and I’ve got nothing but positive things to say about it. Getting that booking was confusing, though. I went in on 1/7, got a price and dates, and said I’d return to pay on 1/8, but was then told everything was sold out. A friend who knows Japanese checked that same day and found it wasn’t sold out, and we got the room. There was more confusion about my passport too: I showed it, they said I hadn’t, and later said that I had.

The room was small, though I assume that’s standard, and the fridge wasn’t cold enough for my food. Staff let me store it in their fridge. They were friendly and spoke English, and helped us get discounted Skytree tickets, suggesting a weekday visit. They also worked through ways for me to reach Narita airport and save money. The location was very convenient for public transport and attractions. Having hot tea and coffee available all day using the room water heater was great.
