Hotel Meldia Ogikubo

I've just had the most harrowing experience with this hotel's front desk, and it's my first negative review. My wife was in delayed labor at a nearby hospital, and I was relieved to find somewhere I could sleep for a few hours. My Japanese-speaking wife called ahead to check availability and confirm the price so I'd be safe. But when I arrived a few minutes later, they said they were fully booked. I tried to explain that my wife had just called, but the staff member cut me off in a loud, rude tone, said he didn't know, and abruptly ended the conversation. It felt like he was telling me to get lost. A mix-up can happen, but he could have explained with a smile or pointed me toward another nearby hotel. Maybe I looked unkempt after two days at the hospital and didn't fit the kind of guest they wanted at this Business Hotel. Or maybe the man just didn't want to deal with a non-Japanese person. Either way, I'd strongly suggest finding another hotel if you want to feel you got your money's worth.
