Hotel New Otani Tokyo

I didn't stay overnight, but I visited Hotel New Otani Tokyo for an executive networking event and was struck by the atmosphere, especially its beautiful Japanese garden. The garden stands on historic grounds dating back over 400 years to the Edo period, when the area was a feudal lord's residence, including one belonging to the Kii branch of the Tokugawa family. The garden itself was created in modern times, but it reflects traditional Japanese landscape design through its harmony with nature, subtle composition, and quiet elegance. I moved from Japan to Bahrain and don't return often. With the global situation as it is today, the visit reminded me how calming and refined Japanese spaces can be. Bahrain, where I now live, is also a wonderful country with great opportunities and a welcoming environment. Even so, this experience reminded me that Japan's traditions and cultural depth are something to be proud of around the world. This is a remarkable venue and well worth visiting in Tokyo.

The sky bar drinks were wildly expensive, $9 for a Coke and alcohol was insane. The hotel is also a maze to get out of the arcade, and they charge for the fridge without telling you. I've stayed in four hotels around Japan, and this was easily the worst. The rooms were small and awkward, they didn't take the trash out of our room, and no other hotel I stayed at charged for a fridge. For what you pay, there are much better places to stay. Just go to the 7/11 for drinks.

The traditional Japanese breakfast was a real highlight, and the room with a bath made for a lovely first hotel stay in Japan. Hotel New Otani Tokyo is enormous and has loads to explore, from its beautiful garden and two gyms to the pools, shops, and other facilities. It's a bit away from some of Tokyo's central sights, but the hotel itself is fantastic. There were plenty of staff around, and they were always ready to help.

We felt cared for from the moment we arrived, and the staff were consistently warm, professional, and helpful. The attention to detail and precise service made our stay especially enjoyable. The hotel met all our expectations, and we'll definitely return.
