It’s a pleasant spot between Yotsuya and Shinjuku nightlife, with casual dining and local izakayas nearby. Small theaters, ramen steam, and rain on asphalt give this part of Tokyo an unpolished feel. Locals talk beneath paper lanterns, while the city hums softly in the distance. Even the station has a modest, everyday charm.

For anyone who likes cyberpunk-style buildings, the exposed pipes overhead are an irresistible sight. There are countless of them running through the ceiling of the underground passage between platforms 1 and 2.

When my pasmo wouldn’t work, I asked the station manager for help and got a rude, very condescending response. He flat out told me to figure it out myself instead of offering advice about what I could try. It was the most unpleasant customer service I’ve experienced in my last few years in Japan.

This is the local station office area. Not many visitors go there. 2023/8/22

I don’t like being near freeways. It feels like you’re going to get robbed.
