HOTEL VARKIN (Adult Only)

This is an hourly love hotel, so don't book it for a holiday stay.

The room was huge by Japanese standards, with a very large bed, a nice spa and bathroom, and a good price. It felt spacious and comfortable, and I'd be happy to stay again if the cigarette smell hadn't surrounded me the whole time. I was there for five days and may have been the first person to actually not smoke in my "non-smoking" room. Leaving the window open all day with the aircon on helped a little. Otherwise, the value was about what you'd expect for the price. The place is a bit run down, and there was even a screw sticking through the window into the room.

I stayed six days with my partner in a king room and paid around 120,000 yen. For that price, it wasn't worth it. The hotel is old, the furniture is old, and there was a really bad smell. They only clean if the room is empty, so we had to leave for them to tidy it. They skipped cleaning for two days in a row, and when I asked to have it done the next day, a woman said no because someone was in the room. That was ridiculous. They only care about money, not guests. A friend wanted to bring some things to my room, but they wouldn't let her in. The woman said no two people, only one person could go in. Seriously? I wouldn't come back. There are plenty of hotels around the same price that are nicer and newer, and probably have friendlier staff.

A pleasant surprise. The staff were very helpful and actually spoke good English, and the price for what you get was great. This was one of the best places we stayed in Japan, where we usually spent about 60,000 per night.
