We came from Australia and were so well looked after at Royal Hotel Ikebukuro. The staff always greeted us with a smile and were friendly and cooperative. ZaZa was especially wonderful and helpful. I was travelling alone with my kids, and he carried our bags, walked me to the bus stop and showed me which bus to take. The hotel is also close to the train station. I have no regrets about booking here, and the team helped us make such good memories. I'll gladly recommend it. If I visit Tokyo again, I'll definitely book this place.

This was my second stay, and I booked a twin room this time. It was roomier and nicer than the single room I had before. The men's bath and sauna are great, and the staff were courteous and helpful. Breakfast was Japanese style with limited choices, but it was adequate. The location is great.

I was really disappointed with the service and wouldn't come back. At check-in, a staff member said I could leave my luggage after checking out until late. On checkout day, the front desk first said they could keep it until 3 pm, then changed that to 2 pm, which threw off my plans. When I asked why the previous day's staff had told me it was fine, they just said they didn't know. The English-speaking staff member only said “No” and gave no explanation. This felt very unprofessional. I expected better from people I thought of as hardworking, and this experience didn't show those values. I'd give it zero stars.

The room was very small by European standards, with almost no storage, just 2 hangers on wall hooks. But having a toilet and shower in the room was really convenient. There was quite a bit of street noise in this busy area. The hotel onsen was brilliant, and I'll definitely stay again.

The location in uptown anime city Ikebukuro is very convenient, and the onsen is nice. Use of it is free with your hotel stay.
