Ikidane Residential Hotel Higashi Ikebukuro

It was quiet, the location was nice, and the owner was great. The room was small, but after a couple of trips to Japan, especially Tokyo, I’m used to rooms being smaller than in Western places. It was clean too, and just a six-minute walk to the train.

We enjoyed the park in the neighborhood, and there were restaurants and convenience stores nearby. This place works best if you don’t have kids or plan to spend a busy day outdoors.

We stayed as four people for 15 days, and the price for all of us was absolutely reasonable. The room was spacious and had its own shower and toilet, a noticeable step up from hotels in the same price range. The location was fantastic too, with everything we needed close by and public transport just a few minutes away. Being near Ikebukuro made getting around easy, and Shibuya, Shinjuku, and other districts were easy to reach as well.

My wife and I spent five days here. It’s in a less touristy neighborhood, so it felt like a more local Japanese experience. There are lots of supermarkets around, and the subway is only a few minutes away. The room was clean and the location was perfect. I’d recommend it.
