Minn Asakusa Kuramae North

The bunk-style beds were the one downside. Air didn’t circulate well around the lower bunk, so it got a bit warm at night. Otherwise, the room was clean, spacious, comfortable for two people, and well maintained. We had a pleasant stay.

Breakfast felt cheap, and the dishes came out very slowly. It wasn’t an open buffet, and there seemed to be just one person trying to manage everything without help. There was no milk or juice until we asked. We’d asked for a higher floor, but that wasn’t acknowledged, and we were put in a first-floor room, perhaps randomly by the check-in system. The room was so dark it felt as if there were no windows at all.

We’d happily stay again. Staff were friendly, check-in was easy, and the light breakfast was good. Minn Asakusa Kuramae North is on a quiet off street, which felt calm and relaxing despite the busy streets just a few blocks away. Public transport is easy to reach, and food and shops are within walking distance. We really enjoyed our stay.

The room was spacious enough, but a foul smell was there from the moment we walked in. It was pungent, like someone had been making kimchi. When we asked staff to check, they immediately said it smelled like mold. We requested either a discount or another room, but got neither. They offered late checkout, which we didn’t want or need. We felt they played down what it was like to stay in a foul-smelling room, as if it didn’t matter. The poor customer service means I wouldn’t stay at Minn again.
