Mitsui Garden Hotel Gotanda Tokyo

We came back to this hotel after our trip to Osaka because we were so pleased with our first stay in Tokyo. By Japanese standards the rooms were fairly spacious, clean, and modern, and I especially liked the bathroom. The service was good, and my partner enjoyed the free onsen. We couldn't comment on breakfast since we didn't try it. The first room was quiet and getting to Shibuya on the Yamanote Line took about 15 minutes. On the return visit, we booked a Superior Room. It had a much bigger bed than we prefer, but the bathroom and room were larger too, and we liked it just as much. We heard more planes and trains passing overhead in that room, but it didn't bother us or seem particularly loud. We'd definitely recommend the hotel.

The bathhouse gets pretty crowded in the evening since it's so popular. Otherwise, the rooms are clean and well maintained, with good sound insulation. This is one of the better hotels I've stayed at in Japan, in a good area with easy access to lots of places.

A highlight was the 15th-floor reception area, with a beautiful view. Sitting on the balcony with morning coffee was a lovely way to start the day. Near reception, there's also a self-serve amenities section with things like toothbrushes, body scrubs, and other essentials. We skipped both breakfast and the bath facilities, but the location was very convenient, close to the station and a supermarket. After a long day of walking, it was nice to have basic shopping and getting around Tokyo so easy. Our rooms were clean, the bathrooms spacious and spotless, and we liked the comfortable beds with their firmer mattresses. Service was fantastic, with friendly, welcoming, genuinely hospitable reception staff. We stayed two nights and will be back for another five later this month, which says a lot about how much we enjoyed it. A special thanks to S.Kaneka at reception, who kindly called a salon, explained what I needed, and arranged a hairdresser appointment for my return. That made it all much easier. I'd happily stay here again.

This is our favorite place to stay on trips to Tokyo. The breakfast was delicious, especially the omelette, and the service was excellent. Our room was compact but spotless, and Shinbashi station is so close that getting to the airport is simple.
