Mizue Dai-ichi Hotel

That restriction on visitors was the one thing we didn’t like. Even relatives who weren’t hotel guests couldn’t go up to our room. Apart from that, we had no problems during our nine-night stay, December 22-30, 2019. The rooms are small, but the service was great. There’s a good cafe on the ground floor, plus another restaurant on the other side of the building.

There’s a washer and dryer in the building, and the train station is only about a block and a half away, which made getting around Tokyo really convenient. The room is a little small, but it was fine for the time we stayed.

The bed and pillows were firm but comfortable, and the room had a small fridge. The seventh-floor room facing the street was nice. It also had a bidet with warm water, a considerate little bin beside the toilet for women’s hygiene products, and drinkable tap water from the sink. The shower got really hot, which felt great in the small bathtub. There’s a slot by the door for the plastic key fob that turns on the lights. The TV needs a PIN from a TV card, which you can buy for 1,000 yen from the vending machine downstairs. Coin laundry is on the eighth floor. The room was decent for the price, and front desk staff spoke Japanese, Mandarin, or English depending on who was working. You have to leave your key at the desk when you go out for the day, then show your receipt when you return to get it back. That way they know whether they can go in and clean.

The room was perfectly adequate, and the staff were courteous. For what it costs, I’d give this hotel five stars.
