The beds were comfortable and always clean, but that wasn't enough to make me want to return. The team was so unfriendly that I felt unwelcome and uncomfortable, mostly because of their cold manner. They never smiled or even said hello. At reception, a woman nearly shouted at me to take off my shoes as soon as I came in, and there wasn't even a chair to sit on while doing it. This was my first stay in Japan, and the experience left me scared and miserable. I was glad to check out and leave, and I wouldn't recommend this hostel to anyone wanting to feel welcome. Would I book 9hours woman kanda again? No, mainly because of the unfriendly team. The layout was confusing, with lockers on one floor, beds in another section, showers on another floor, and toilets somewhere else. Guests were loud at night, which made sleeping difficult. Everyone has to leave the rooms between 10 am and 4 pm for cleaning, with no exceptions. I arrived late from Germany and was very jet lagged, but still had to leave at 10.

This was a stressful stay. I kept worrying about disturbing other people while some guests ignored the rules and disturbed me. I could hear someone secretly chewing inside another capsule, even though eating there was clearly prohibited. The blanket was stiff and uncomfortable, and I never managed a proper night's sleep. There was little soundproofing from outside, either: ambulances, trains, birds, and voices from nearby restaurants all came through. At least it's women-only and conveniently near Kanda Station. Still, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone I care about. Each day I wondered how it had earned such high reviews. The lockers are tiny: a carry-on left no room to hang a coat, and I had to put my shoes on top of my luggage. Anything larger than carry-on luggage has to be left at reception, and you must ask staff every time you need access. For longer stays, guests have to check out and return the locker keycard every day. Valuables shouldn't be left in the locker during daily cleaning from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. There are no dining tables, so buying food or coffee at a convenience store and sitting down to eat isn't practical. Food is allowed in the locker area, but that space is narrow and uncomfortable. The toothbrush they provided was such poor quality that I honestly wondered if it was fit to use. For a capsule hotel that isn't inexpensive, the service also wasn't especially friendly or polite. I regret choosing this place during my Tokyo trip.

We paid double what we'd been paying at our other hostel in akasaka because we wanted to try a real capsule hotel. It wasn't worth it: the beds were rock solid, the service was the worst, and they wouldn't let us leave our bags after checkout, which we'd never had a problem with before. Skip it if you can.

There were plenty of showers, sinks, and bathrooms, so I never had to wait. The facilities were clean and the staff kind, and it's good value for the price in an excellent spot near the Yamanote Line. Multi-day stays are allowed, with everyone needing to be out between 11am and 3pm. That was fine for me since I was out all day anyway. I just wish there were a lounge for eating or chatting, or that people had to keep those activities to the seating area by the showers. Without a lounge, other women used the locker area, and it could be hard to get enough room to repack.
