Shinjuku Washington Hotel Annex

The service was fine, but I wouldn’t return. Before booking, I specifically asked whether they could send luggage to the airport, and they said they could. At checkout, they told me they don’t offer that service, only hotel-to-hotel delivery, and that airport delivery had to be booked separately in advance. I’d asked about it already, so the conflicting answers were ridiculous. Although it’s in Shinjuku, the location isn’t especially good compared with other hotels. It’s a 10-minute walk, and Shinjuku station is such a maze that finding your way takes longer. The room has air conditioning, but you can adjust only the fan strength, not the temperature. I remember staying at Shinjuku Washington hotel years ago when the room was so hot there was no way to sleep. They provide a fan now, but that’s just a band-aid and doesn’t fix the underlying problem. The laundry setup is ridiculous for such a big hotel. There are only four dryers, and the only time I could use one was 6am. I got lucky it was available then. The room is mediocre, the air conditioning can’t be adjusted properly, laundry doesn’t seem enough for the number of guests, and I was given misleading information about luggage service. Spend a little more at another hotel.

After long days walking around, it was lovely to come back to a tidy room. The staff cleaned it and left water bottles every day. The beds were extremely comfortable, the room was very clean, and the hot shower was perfect. It’s conveniently located close to the station, 7-11, food, and shopping areas. We know hotel rooms in Japan are often small, but there was enough room to open two large suitcases comfortably. We couldn’t be happier with our choice of accommodation in Tokyo. Breakfast was excellent, with lots of high-quality Japanese and international choices, both sweet and savoury. The staff were kind, and the complimentary amenities at reception were a nice touch. It was handy to have convenience stores and restaurants in the same building. The room was quite small, as is common in Tokyo, and wasn’t perfectly clean. The location is fantastic, right in lively Shinjuku and great for walking around, while the hotel itself is tucked into a quieter spot. A good stay that I’d recommend.

We had a lovely three-night stay. The room was clean, with a medium-firm bed, comfortable pillows, and enough space for two medium-sized suitcases. It was larger than the rooms we’d had in Kyoto, Osaka, and Kobe. Check-in was easy, the staff were courteous, and breakfast had a great variety to suit every taste.
