remm Roppongi

Breakfast was a good start to the day, with a tasty optional buffet and a nice variety. The staff were friendly and professional, check-in and checkout went smoothly, and they were ready to help with requests. We found the rooms clean and modern, with free Wi-Fi and a thoughtful layout. They’re small, as is common in Tokyo, but the massage chair made it a comfortable place to relax after sightseeing. Higher-floor rooms have lovely city and Tokyo Tower views, which were a highlight for us. Remm Roppongi was an enjoyable base for exploring Tokyo, just steps from Roppongi Station and surrounded by shops, restaurants, and nightlife in a lively area you can explore on foot or by subway. Most rooms don’t have a bathtub, and there aren’t extensive facilities such as a spa or gym. Still, for a city trip focused on exploring, it suited us well.

The breakfast was really good every day, and we tried something new each time. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the rooms were clean. The photos online made the rooms look larger than they were. The double room was about cruise-ship size, which was fine for one person at the start of our trip, but as a pair we had to upgrade. Amenities were limited to what you picked up at the front desk. I was a little nervous about staying in Roppongi because of its reputation. We didn’t stay out late and didn’t see anything that stood out, though locals seemed to get an impression when we mentioned the area. I’d stay at Remm again, maybe in another city.

Our twin room was a good size compared with many of the other hotels on our Japan trip, which was a big plus. We could keep our luggage in a small closet, though there wasn’t much room to open it. It worked out because we left the shopping and souvenirs packed and only opened one suitcase at a time. The massage chair looked promising, but we tried it once and didn’t use it again. It was small and didn’t fit an average-sized Nordic man. Getting around was easy, with public transport a short walk away, but the many nightclubs brought traffic and noise outside, especially on weekends. Breakfast was a letdown. We went at different times, but food was often gone and wasn’t refilled, and some dishes meant to be warm were cold. We’d probably stay here again without breakfast and ask for a higher-floor room to avoid the noise.

Mark at the front desk was a huge help as we worked out the Yamato service. Communication with reception was easy, and everyone helped us through check-in and checkout. The location was great too, just minutes from the subway, with a pharmacy and convenience store down the street. I stayed two nights and had an amazing experience. The room had enough space to open one large suitcase, and there was room to store another if needed, which is about what I expected in Tokyo. Please give Mark a raise :)
