Ryokan Nakadaya

We’ve stayed here twice, and it really does feel like a home away from home. The welcome and warmth have been unmatched both times. Our host pointed us to Cafe Bach, and we still stop by whenever we’re in the area. We’re hoping to move to Japan in the next two years and look forward to visiting our wonderful host again.

The rooms were cozy and traditional, and the place was spotless. From our first day through departure, the host made us feel safe and well cared for. Their friendly, thoughtful manner, along with the ryokan’s welcoming atmosphere and location, made this one of my favorite stays in Japan. I’ll remember it for a long time and hope I can come back. Thank you so much.

I stayed in the smallest room on my own. It’s quite compact compared with the hotels I’m used to, though it’s much more than a capsule, and the value for this location is hard to beat. After a week, walking back from the station felt like coming home. I’m sure I’ll remember this stay years from now. The communal showers, bath, and restrooms were clean, and guests can use a shared fridge, microwave, and sitting room. The room was comfortable and clean as well. The owner-manager was really friendly and would explain the area I was heading to each day. It’s an affordable base within reach of Asakusa, Ueno, and Akihabara.

I was there for a little over two weeks and slept comfortably the whole time. My single room was small, but really cozy, with plenty of shelves, space to set open luggage, lots of outlets, and even a mini TV. The shared bathroom and showers never seemed dirty. The owner made the biggest impression on me. I had several free days, and he suggested places I hadn’t come across on social media. He always greeted me when I came and went, and one day I found a pack of strawberries he’d left in my room because they were in peak season. I was so grateful. He even helped carry my luggage all the way to the bus station, or train station if that’s how you’re heading back to the airport. I’d absolutely recommend staying here, especially for the price and the service.
