Shin-Okubo City Hotel

The location is awesome, only a 5 minute walk to a main subway line. The hotel has an older motel feel, and the beds were like ironing boards, so don't stay here if you have a bad back. Showering was awkward too: it's just a handheld wand in a small bathtub, so you have to hold it yourself. Otherwise, the place was clean and staff were always available.

The room is big and has a King bed size, which is hard to find cheaply in Toyko. It's also close to the JR line. I'd stay here again.

I had trouble getting proper rest because the beds were so hard. The ceilings were very low throughout the building, including in the rooms.

We slept well after long days out exploring Tokyo, even though the thin walls meant there was some noise from people moving around downstairs. The staff were really attentive and nice, and our clean room had plenty of space, a mini fridge, and a comfortable bed. It’s a great-value place in Shinjuku, within walking distance of several stations and close to everything. I’d happily recommend it.
