Everything was really clean, and the staff were friendly and spoke decent English. The beds were especially comfortable, with a 3" foam layer over a spring mattress. Showers are private and have great pressure, though they're small in the room. Wi-Fi worked well. Having to pay 150 yen for a towel was a bummer, but I'd stay again.

Light sleepers may want to avoid the second floor. That's where the night entrance and showers are, so guests from the other floors pass the room doors and it gets busy. From 00:00 to 08:00 the front door is closed, and you enter through the second floor. The Space Hostel staff were really friendly. They even helped check the Google Translate sentences I'd prepared so restaurant staff would understand my food allergies. Coffee, tea, and Wi-Fi are free. I liked the showers too: a little small by western standards, but you can set both the water pressure and temperature how you like, and shampoo and shower gel are provided.

The location isn't right beside transit, but with the hostel's price I was happy to walk where I needed to go. It was my first hostel and I loved it. The beds were clean and comfy, with privacy curtains, and the bathroom setup was a bit unusual but worked efficiently and stayed clean. There are plenty of showers, all on the second floor. The rooftop patio has a vending machine, which is a nice touch, and having a computer guests can use in the first-floor common area was essential for me.

The one thing that kept me from giving it five stars was the location: it's not in Tokyo's nightlife district, which is one of the city's highlights for me. Apart from that, I thought the hostel was perfect and probably the best I've stayed in. The staff were nice and spoke excellent English, compared with Japanese standards. The bathroom was super clean and had plenty of room to get ready. There was enough space on the bed for my important belongings, and the common area was large without usually being crowded. There's no curfew either.

I spent two nights here, and the staff were very courteous and helped me put together an itinerary, with good suggestions for places to see, eat, and shop. The beds were nice, with an extra sheet and a lamp, and the bathrooms were spotless, so please help keep them that way. Two things made this hostel stand out for me: it's centrally located, within walking distance of Ueno park, and you can borrow bicycles free for three hours. Highly recommend it! 👍🏻
