The room was a decent size and the location was great. It may not be the most modern, but for the money it was very good, and the staff were helpful when I needed something and understood basic English. Smoke from the floors where smoking is allowed can get into your room, so keep that in mind if you're sensitive to it. There's a Chinese soup dumpling place downstairs that's a must try. I really can't fault the hotel.

You step out of Ikebukuro Station's north exit and the hotel may be the first thing you see. That puts it in a great spot in one of Tokyo's busy hubs. Inside, the brick exterior and roomy, quaint feel make it welcoming. I'd skip the second-floor Cafe unless you're really stuck for food and don't want to head out to the city's restaurants.
