Country Inn The White Marine

Really good.

We went as a couple during Golden Week and were so glad we chose this place. Everyone at Country Inn The White Marine was warm and welcoming the whole time, and we came away with lovely Shodoshima memories. The meals were delicious and satisfying, with seasonal local ingredients. We could each pick a different main, which made sharing fun. Our room had a lovely wood-grain look and a beautiful white dresser. From the balcony we could see trees and mountains, and the entrance garden was full of flowers. After dinner we walked about ten minutes to Olive Onsen. The large supermarket beside it was open until 10 PM that day, handy for drinks and other things we needed. We'd love to visit again.

The annex was very quiet, and its ocean-facing balcony gave us a spectacular view toward Yashima Island from Kashima Beach. The island looked different in the morning, evening, and at night. Dinner and breakfast were both delicious, and the owner and his wife were wonderfully hospitable. I'd recommend it, though the accommodation basics felt below what you'd expect from a business hotel. There were no pajamas, only hand soap and no body soap, and the Wi-Fi connection was poor. Dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. when all guests arrive, and breakfast is set for 8 a.m. People may feel differently about how fixed those times are. After just one stay, it's hard to judge the place's true value. I'd like to return and assess it again.

Bring your own sleepwear, and if you're a woman, lotion and makeup remover too. If a unit bath or a business hotel kind of feel works for you, that's fine. The food was absolutely delicious. I have a lot of allergies to animals, which makes eating difficult, but they cooked everything just right and it was all tasty. The host was a lovely couple, and I had a great trip.
