The location made dinner easy, with the downtown area nearby, and the hotel was surprisingly quiet. I’d worried about noise because it hosts people attending driver’s license training camps, but I didn’t hear any, and it almost seemed like families were staying there. The breakfast was filling and tasty for the price, too. The building itself is certainly old, though the room and bathroom were clean. The water pressure and temperature were just right, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. Staff at the front desk were polite and explained the parking arrangements smoothly. My small gripe was that handing over my car keys felt a bit awkward.

The breakfast is a real bargain: for an extra 400 yen with the room, there’s an all-you-can-eat buffet with Tottori-grown rice, breakfast sides, salad, and coffee. The rooms are reasonably comfortable for a basic business hotel, and the quality felt more than fair for the price. It’s about a two-minute walk from Tottori Station and close to the downtown shopping area. Hinomaru Onsen, a public hot spring that stays open until midnight, is around five minutes away on foot. The hotel seems to have originally been called "Hotel Trest." Its sign is still there, with a piece of paper printed "Hotel National" over it, which looks a little unsettling but is fine. There’s a main building and an annex across a road roughly five meters wide; they operate as one place, with reception in the main building.
