The staff were friendly, and the rooms were quite spacious, but the place felt old throughout. I stayed two nights, and it was one of the least impressive places I’ve booked. The bathroom and interior were dated, and everything smelled old. My room was listed as non-smoking, but it clearly had been used as a smoking room before. It was clean overall, but could use a general makeover. It’s about a 15-minute walk from the station in a nightlife area, so there’s some noise. With few budget options in town, it might do if you mainly want a relatively low price, but I didn’t think it was good value.

As a solo backpacker, I found the location convenient, about an easy 1 km walk from the railway station. There’s a supermarket near the Glass Art Museum. The street gets busy and annoying at night because of nearby pubs and clubs, but I didn’t hear much noise inside my clean, quiet room. The price was relatively low compared with other local hotels. The staff may not speak English well, but they try their best to help.

The owner was kind and seemed concerned when I cut my stay short, and I’m grateful for having stayed there. The hotel is clean, though dated, well located, and the rooms are very cheap. I left because I experienced racism in Toyama, with two overt incidents in two days. It had nothing to do with the owner, but I’m not on holiday for that, so I won’t be coming back.
