Dinner at Bistro Cadou, attached to Kiyota Ryokan, was a real treat. We chose the luxurious menu, and the French food from the head pastry chef was delicate in a way I hadn't experienced before. The sweets at the end looked beautiful and tasted just as good. The room itself was spacious, with soft lighting and a lovely wood feel, and didn't seem like a former ryokan. We booked a large room with a bath, and the big public bath was simple, spacious, and relaxing. My husband and I were there for our wedding anniversary. From the entrance, the thoughtful colors, materials, and layout made the place feel welcoming. I also liked the wide, gently sloping staircase that uses the original stairs, even though there is an elevator. The consistent, calming hallway colors seem comfortable for seniors. Sakuragicho is right in front, handy for an after-party, and Castle Ruins Park, Sogawa Street, and Chuo Street are conveniently close.

This inn is right in central Toyama City, so it's easy to get to. The nearly 70-year-old building was renovated and reopened two years ago. The simple Japanese-style rooms are complemented by well-equipped shared spaces, including a kitchen, a spot for light office work, a Toyama information corner, and a lounge. There are meeting rooms in both large and private sizes, so it seems well suited to training camps and similar gatherings. The bath is modern Japanese in style, simple but spacious and comfortable. Toyama folk art and artists' work are displayed throughout. There's also an Italian restaurant in Kannai run by a famous chef, with dishes made from local ingredients.

We stayed in the universal room, which is set up for a wheelchair user and caregiver. It's the only room with its own bathroom. The other rooms use shared facilities in the old ryokan style, but the bathroom and toilet are well equipped. I tried the outdoor toilet too, and it was spacious and luxurious. Having a bathroom outside your room can make the stay feel more like an experience, depending on how you see it. For anyone who dislikes sharing, private shower rooms are available around the clock. There are several stylish shared areas, and I think a pamphlet with local recommendations for them would be useful. The inn sits at the entrance to the downtown nightlife area, so it was a bit lively outside. I found that noise part of the city's charm and enjoyed it, and I actually slept well. I'd recommend this place to people who like architecture and renovations. You can see the inn's distinctive touches, and this newly opened place is sure to impress.

We came as a family and really enjoyed the shared spaces and kitchen. Cadou's food was absolutely delicious. The recent renovation left everything clean, and the whole place felt unlike any inn we'd stayed in before. It's walkable from Toyama Station, and there's a tram line too, so getting there was no problem. We'd love to come back.

Everything's so cute here. The atmosphere is lovely, and I appreciated the thoughtful little things in the restrooms and large communal bath. Dinner at Bistro Cadoux was beautifully presented and delicious. The staff were kind and easy to talk to. I'll come back (^_^)
