O Hotel Toyooka

Handy location, though it feels a bit expensive for the quality.

The front desk helped the person behind me first, even though they were doing exactly the same thing I was. I can’t understand why. Was this harassment? Do they even know what they’re talking about? They kept going on about something they probably handle all the time. I thought they’d said the price was per person. What was the point? It was strange and made no sense. If I were booking a hotel in this area, I’d definitely look into this.

I was traveling by train and found the hotel very convenient, close to the station. The room and bathroom were clean, and the desk had more depth than desks in other business hotels. Good shower pressure, decent internet, and the free breakfast were all pluses. The front desk staff were polite and helpful. I noticed several motorcycles in the parking lot, which seemed partly sheltered from wind and rain, so it might suit people touring by motorcycle. Breakfast starts at 6:00. I had a 6:23 train, so I checked out ahead of time, ate in about ten minutes, and was able to start a little before 6:00. I still reached the station with time to spare. No problems during my stay.

The rooms and reception area look old and dated. Other hotels in Toyooka offer good stays for similar prices, but this one includes breakfast at no charge. If your company won’t let you claim breakfast as a business travel expense, that could make this hotel a sensible choice. The buffet is satisfying enough for a free meal, though it isn’t fancy and there isn’t much variety.
