Hotel JAL City Tsukuba

There isn't much choice at breakfast, just Japanese food. The rooms are small for two people, and there are no separate beds.

It was easy to reach the hotel from Tsukuba station, and the location was simple to find. The room had a nice layout and was comfortable and spacious for one person. I could even watch Japanese dramas on the TV.

Breakfast became a problem each morning, and the language barrier made it hard to sort out. Staff generally couldn't speak much English. I was told breakfast wasn't included, which was fine, and I was happy to pay. On the first morning they needed 20 minutes to prepare it because it hadn't been arranged in advance. They said they'd update my reservation so the rest of the week would be sorted, but the next morning I was told they couldn't accommodate me. The man at the front desk couldn't speak English, and it seemed easiest to turn me away. I asked for a manager, but communication was too difficult, so I gave up and found breakfast elsewhere. I don't think I'll stay here again.

The rooms were very clean, and the staff were courteous. Breakfast was good quality, too. Just know that things are self-service: you iron your own clothes and do your own laundry if needed. If you're looking for halal food, vegetables may be an option. It was well worth staying here, especially for a conference at the international conference centre.
