Tsukuba Daily-Inn

I stayed there for 2.5 months with friends and had no complaints. It was a really nice place to live, with great breakfast and staff who kept everything running smoothly.

I only needed a place for one night so I could get ready for an early round the next day, and paying just 4,500 yen left me completely satisfied. The room had enough space and there was hot water, so nothing let me down. I picked it because of the positive comments here and the incredibly low price. What I especially liked was the charming receptionists who welcomed me. Anyone who relies on a Washlet might want to bring a portable one. I used to need one during my time in the UK.

The best part for me was the comfortable shared room downstairs. It has a whole glass wall for morning light, big house plants, and designer tables and seats. There are bookcases full of manga, including classics like Nausicaa and Akira, plus free coffee in the morning and hot water available all night. I didn't have breakfast, but heard it costs 600 yen. English directions, local information, and a map were listed in my photos. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The place's faded wooden facade and cared-for plants gave me the feel of an old beach hotel on the northern west coast or east coast of the US. My room wasn't dirty, though it had few amenities, and the bed wasn't comfortable. I complained about it. I was also surprised there was no washlet, but the AC worked well.

It's about a 25 minute walk from the station, and the common area is full of goodies for you to discover. The room has a bath, which is uncommon in Japan, plus tea and a kettle. They also let you use a yukata and bicycle for free. Great value, friendly, and fine for English speakers too.
