Business Hotel Kyugetsu

I called to say I’d arrive about 10 minutes late and ask where to park. It was getting dark, and I was having trouble finding a space, so a staff member came out and showed me where to go. I was able to park without any trouble. After checkout, I was looking over my work details in the parking lot when they returned something I’d left behind without realizing it. That was a big help, and the staff were very kind.

It’s a few minutes away by taxi from Tsukumi Station, though the station is far on foot. The price is great. The room has a toilet and bathroom, but no fridge, so you have to use the shared one in the hallway. It was clean, so I had no hesitation using it.

The way the owner handled this was so unpleasant that I won’t stay here again. I’d pay 2,000 yen more per night and go to nearby AZ next time. This was my second stay, and there seemed to be new rules like the ones in the pictures, so I read them carefully. I’d booked two nights, and when I came back on the second night, the room hadn’t been cleaned because it was an eco-plan. I’d expected that. But there were no fresh towels or mats, and none had been left on the doorknob. I asked the owner downstairs, who said, “I took the key with me, so there’s no cleaning or replacement towels.” When I asked for replacements, he said he’d give me some, but repeated that there’d be no cleaning because he had the key. He seemed annoyed, as if I’d done something wrong. There was no apology or regret, and he just handed over the items without explaining anything. The terms and conditions I’d read didn’t say replacements wouldn’t be left. They have a master key, so me taking my key doesn’t prevent them from leaving amenities. They could at least have hung them on the doorknob. A service business should keep track of how many supplies are left. For 9,000 yen for two nights, the quality is decent, but the toilet paper and room tissues were nearly gone, there was a long hair in the bathroom, the room was cramped, water pressure was weak, the fridge was shared, and the parking lot was gravel with weeds growing through it. The air conditioner also took a while to work. It’s on the third floor with stairs only. I let those things go because of the price, but it’s been a long time since I had such an unpleasant stay somewhere that should be a place to relax. Hospitality and service seem to come second here, and they don’t admit when they’ve made a mistake.

The price is reasonable: I paid ¥4,500 through Rakuten Travel for a room without meals, and parking is free. There aren’t restaurants or convenience stores nearby, though there is a drugstore within walking distance. The building and rooms are old but well maintained, and there’s no shower toilet. Cleaning noises starting around 8:00 am were annoying and disappointing. Check-out is at 9:00 am.
