I was there in late fall, and both my room and the outdoor spa looked out over the valley and its volcanic steam vents. The hotel sits in the middle of the Manza Onsen area. Dinner was a buffet with well-known local cabbages, roast beef, snow crab legs, and other dishes. Soft drinks were included, but alcohol cost extra. The sign at the alcohol counter said “Paid” in Japanese and “Paid” in English, which some foreign guests took to mean it had already been paid for and that everything was included. That caused trouble with the Japanese guests there. That sign for alcoholic drinks should be corrected.。

The views were beautiful, the staff were very hospitable, and the onsens were amazing. It’s very close to Kusatsu. I visited in May 2024 and would happily come back. A great stay for anyone wanting to experience Japan’s natural beauty.

The shuttle to and from the train station is a big plus and makes getting there really easy. The food was delicious, and the onsen was absolutely the best thing. There were separate options for women and men, plus an outdoor mixed bath with a lovely view. Tattoos aren’t allowed, but that was fine for us since we don’t have any. The place is a little run down, but it didn’t affect our stay. Everything was clean, and the room had what we needed. Definitely worth a visit. Thanks for the great service!

The open-air bath had an amazing view, and my room in the East Wing had an incredible one too. After day two, condensation started fogging up the window in my room. You don’t get luxury here, but the place feels fair for what you pay. I wasn’t convinced the dinner buffet, 6800 yen when I wrote this, was worth it, though that may be a reasonable price given how isolated the area is. The service staff were cheerful and polite, and the room was clean. Thanks to the staff for looking after me :-)

The room included breakfast, and it was really good. We also enjoyed the massage service near the front desk. There are separate onsens for women and men as well as the mixed bath. That mixed onsen felt like a dream: snowflakes fell on our heads as we soaked in turquoise, mineral-rich water, with a snow-covered mountain and steam rising from its sulfur banks in view. You can wear a sari you buy or use the one they provide for free to cover yourself in the mixed pool.
