The students are chatty and welcoming, and they invite you to join their conversations and activities. It's a fun place to stay, with a good location for seeing little local spots around Tsuru. Mt Fuji is about 40 minutes away by train. The rooms aren't insulated, as other reviews mention, so it can get a bit cold, but you can ask for extra blankets. Good value at just ¥3,500.

A cosy hostel, and the hosts were really friendly and accommodating.

The staff are nice, but expect a hard futon and a room without insulation.

A lovely traditional house, with staff who are very kind and welcoming.

It's a renovated old Japanese house run by students from Tsuru University, a big, striking place with a nostalgic feel. You can cook with the provided supplies, and there are several dinner options nearby along with a public bath. I also liked being able to meet other guests. The students aren't professionals, so some parts of the service may be a little rough. Still, staying comfortably for this price is a real treat. Please support them.
